Inspiring Stories: From Our Community
Cathleen’s Journey – A Young Volunteer’s Experience
From Massachusetts to Mumbai: The Universal Language of Canine Service
Thirteen-year-old Cathleen Murphy shares her heartwarming experience raising Marley, an Australian Shepherd puppy destined for hearing dog service:
“Marley was simply perfect – happy, fuzzy, and adorable beyond imagination. Mostly black with brown and white legs and a distinctive white stripe on his head. Though hyperactive and challenging at times, every moment was worth it.
After just five months, Marley was selected for specialized hearing dog training. While heartbreaking to see him go, the pride in knowing he’ll change someone’s life forever makes it worthwhile. He looked so distinguished in his little blue training cape, clearly destined for greatness.”
Graduation Update: Marley successfully completed his training and is now serving as a certified hearing dog, transforming his handler’s daily life.
